There is two sides on a coin.Once you flip it,you expect it to land on one side only
Most things in life are like that.Let me just say life itself is basically a coin on it’s own. When We make certain choices, that’s us flipping the coin and we expect the outcome to either be in our favor or to go a totally different direction.I can handle making the choices but I struggle with the waiting process. It’s not easy at all..or maybe that’s just me.
It’s like I flip the coin but when it’s time for it to land I lose my mind.
And that’s how most of us are when we are waiting for certain outcomes, and so I feel it’s wiser to always prepare ourselves for both the good and the bad. We mostly focus on the good side so much that when things don’t go our way, we don’t know how to handle ourselves anymore, simply because we only prepared emotionally for the good news.At the end of the day we go through emotional torture wishing things had gone a different direction…
But that’s just it,things don’t always work out in our favor.Sometimes we get what we didn’t want and that’s okay.
We should always prepare our mind to accept both the good and the bad.We need to emotionally train ourselves on how to proceed despite the outcome and we need to learn how to handle ourselves in both situations.I mean if we are well prepared, even when things don’t turn out as expected, we will know that we can always flip the coin again and hopefully next time it will land on the side we want it to land.
I must confess,I had trouble coming up with the title for this article 🙈🙈🙈…but hey,you get me😌😌
So many of us like to seek empathy from people around us ,making our personal stories a tourist attraction. At times we even exaggerate just so we get that “aawwwww you poor thing”…I am not saying don’t tell your stories,if I recall well I wrote a piece saying you should unlock and tell your stories so you can save a soul out there…I am just saying tell your stories with the right motives in mind.
Tell your stories to inspire,
tell your stories to motivate
Tell your stories to teach or show someone the way.
Yes we all want to hear that “awww you poor thing”
…but let’s not make it a need
“Don’t let them scare you my child”, she said…Keep going!
I stood there and watched as her lips moved in motion with every word that came out of her mouth.I wanted to believe what she was saying, I wanted to believe that there was a rainbow waiting for me after this dark cloud that surrounded me.I wanted to tell her “I hear you ma”, but I would be lying. I didn’t get what she was saying. So much had already happened and yet she kept saying “don’t let them scare you”…So I stood there and watched her without saying anything except wondering as to who these people she spoke about were.I had a long list of names in my head really…”you don’t mean Uncle Jerry do you ma?”, I asked. She smiled and looked away. That was her last smile and our last conversation was left with question marks.
For years I kept trying to figure out who she was referring to as “them”. No one was scaring me”, I thought, everyone was kind and they all encouraged me to do things beyond my comfort zone. Who was ma referring to?
It was then that I realized ma was referring to my thoughts…my own thoughts are the ones that kept saying I wasn’t good enough,or I wasn’t going to succeed. My own thoughts made me doubt that my dark days will ever end in a rainbow. “KEEP GOING”, that’s what she said, and so I did😊
Do the same…keep going. Don’t let your negative thoughts get in the way of whatever you want to achieve. You can control them,Don’t let them scare you.At least now you realize that in most cases we are the ones that are preventing ourselves from seeing that rainbow.
Just keep going 😌
